Our Program

The Ocean Divers Ltd offers an intensive, 7-month Commercial Diver program for those interested in commercial diving or underwater welding. You will earn certifications that will allow you to dive all over the world. In addition, it offers International Assessments, Refreshers, Upgrades, and Specialty Training to divers who are interested in furthering their education and/or gaining additional certification.

Physics & Medicine

This module is one of the most challenging parts of diver training. It pushes your ability to take in information. Most of this class is in the classroom, but what you are learning becomes critical later on once you start diving and deep diving.
The class is broken down into two six-day segments and one four-day segment.

Lightweight & Rigging

The lightweight and rigging course contains one of the most exciting days of the whole seven month program: the first day you get in the water. In these four weeks, you’ll begin in the classroom, getting introduced to the diving equipment. You’ll take your first breaths through the helmet using surface supplied air. You’ll end the course doing midwater projects off the barge, just like a diver in the field.

Offshore & Hazmat

Offshore and Hazmat is where it gets real. This course is the first time where you’ll have projects that simulate the professional world, in which you have a set number of things to accomplish in a certain amount of time. Here you’ll experience the most powerful thing in the industry- teamwork. You work in teams for the first time, communicating and planning together to get the job done.

Welding & Underwater Welding

Have you ever operated a 10,000℉ flame underwater? Think it sounds hard? Persistence and focus are the keys to mastering this skill in Month 4.

Salvage & Hydraulics

In the Salvage & Hydraulics Tools module, students get to work in teams to bring up a boat that is sunk at the bottom of Lake Union. Due to the nature of teamwork and awesomeness, this course entails more high-fives than any other.

SCUBA & Inland

This course is exciting because it’s never quite the same. Practical skills are gained by diving in a variety of locations around Seattle. You’ll learn Occupational SCUBA, as well as practice using NDT (non-destructive testing) methods.

Deep Dives

The final module in the 7 month program is a three week Deep Dive course. This is where everything you’ve learned comes together. All the knowledge you’ve gathered from day 1 in physics and medicine, to the moment you step on the MV Response (DIT’s boat) now comes into play. You’re not doing very much that is new, you’re simply pulling it all together.
